CitizenM Schiphol expansion

CitizenM’s latest project exudes a commanding, dynamic, vast architectural expansion of 125 guestrooms, SocietyM meeting spaces, and outdoor areas.

CitizenM Schiphol stands as a bold statement of architectural prowess, bustling with the intrigue that can beguile designers and hoteliers alike. In 2008, the first ever citizen hotel opened its doors at Schipol Airport. Since then, CitizenM has built six more statement hotels with many more in the pipeline, each one as dynamic and evolving as ever. CitizenM made the decision to upgrade their premier development with the aim to compete and meet the current standards. This renovated masterstroke will fulfill the needs of travelling citizens and offer an escape within the airport environment of Schiphol.

The new extension of the building mimics the existing structure in which the prefabricated modules are again stacked on top of the traditionally built ground floor. The architecture of the façade was designed with the same aluminium frames and tilted glass to make a seamless transition between the old and new.

The ground floor of the newly built extension offers six additional spaces for work and play. A makeover has also taken place in order to update the public spaces. CitizenM Schiphol is also the first prop to feature collectionM: a series of artworks that can be purchased online. The artworks are part of the collaboration between The Public House of Art and CitizenM.
