Chinese contractor invests $75 million in hotel design firm HBA
Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co. Ltd, will acquire a 70% stake of the design firm, in addition to reportedly investing a further $80million into building a subsidiary in Singapore.
A statement by HBA said the investment would enable the company to ‘achieve new levels of growth and provide unmatched service to its clients by providing more vertical and integrated services’, adding that areas for growth focus included architecture, art procurement, lighting design, branding and graphics.
The company also confirmed that the move by Gold Mantis, which is based in Suzhou, China, would not affect the managerial structure of the brand, with no planned changes to its team of partners, directors and associates. The firm’s headquarters will remain in Los Angeles.
HBA, which specialises in hotel design, was established in 1964. In July 31 of this year its assets totalled $98.97 million. Recent projects include the Luxury Collection property the Maria Cristina and The Four Seasons Hotel, Guangzhou.
A spokesperson for HBA said: “We are excited about this new era for HBA as it will usher the company into new markets, provide added value and services to our clients, and focus on great design.”
