Cayo Exclusive Resort and Spa has announced its opening in Crete, Greece.
Situated on its own private swathe of seafront overlooking Elounda Bay, the 74-key property features three guest rooms types, four F&B outlets, a spa and fitness centre and meeting spaces.
The interior design – steered by Italian designer Gian Paolo Venier – combines modern European design with Greek and Cretan traditions. Cool greys, soft blues and greens are blended with brushed white marble, glass and stone in a nod toward the historical locale and architecture of the nearby ancient city of Olous.
From the Deluxe Rooms to the Two-Bedroom Villas, each guest room and suite includes unique handpicked pieces of craftsmanship from around the world – from black volcanic pebbles from Sumatra to Brazilian marble. The 74 individually designed rooms offer uninterrupted views of the ocean and Spinalonga Islet, complete with terrace and heated private plunge pools.
The food and beverage offering comprises four restaurants with menus curated by Lefteris Lazarou, the first Greek chef to receive a Michelin Star. The main restaurant, Ambrosia, is inspired by the consumption of ambrosia by Greek Gods in Greek Mythology. Located by the pool, Mediterranean restaurant Sage & Thyme overlooks the islet of Spinalonga.
Guests can explore the hotel’s Mediterranean cuisine through an abundance of flavours, colours and aromas. Meanwhile, gourmet restaurant Kelari offers creative interpretations of timeless traditional Greek recipes. Stone Beach House on the seafront offers a more casual dining experience. The lobby bar – Emerald – connects to a spacious veranda, while the Enastron bar is located a few metres from the hotel’s grand swimming pools.
Cayo’s Armonia Spa is a state-of-the-art installation featuring a large heated indoor pool, steam room, three treatment rooms, sauna, hair salon and nail salon.
Ecologically sustainable and environmentally responsible, the hotel’s striking architectural design was curated to achieve optimal air and light exposure to both indoor and outdoor areas. The hotel design also ensures that a substantial amount of electrical energy is saved using a state-of-the-art heat recovery system. The hotel uses the heat produced by the air conditioning units to heat guests’ rooms and main building water. Biodegradable plastic bottles are gifted to guests with a seedling, which guests can plant on the resort to restore and respect the natural surroundings.
