Capella Hotels & Resorts has announced that Capella Taipei will open its doors in the winter of 2024.

Poised to become an urban sanctuary in the heart of Taipei’s Dunhua North Road, the 86-key hotel will be the brand’s debut in Taiwan. Surrounded by lush greenery, the property – designed in consultation with the Mori Building Group from Tokyo – offers views of the city and surrounding mountains. 

Conceived by André Fu Studio, the hotel’s design concept of a ‘modern mansion’ stems from Fu’s personal reflections on Taipei as a modern city that brings together vibrancy and a poetic locality. As such, Capella Taipei fuses tradition with a modern-day narrative of the city it calls home.  

“It is a re-telling of my personal journey discovering Taipei,” says says Andre Fu. “Flaneuring around local neighbourhoods and wandering into the lush tree-lined DunHua North Road where the hotel fondly resides, I was absorbed with the poetic environment – it captures the feeling of an escape nestled within European boulevards, a soulful atmosphere that evokes an antithesis to the urbanity one might typically perceive Taipei.”  

Food and beverage at the new Capella hotel will include a restaurant centred around grilling, aging and smoking techniques that bring to life a French-inspired seasonal menu. The Patisserie combines an art gallery’s charm with a bakery’s warmth, while authentic Cantonese cuisine with Taiwanese influences and a premier Japanese Omakase restaurant extend the F&B offer across the hotel. 

An additional two-storey destination will offer a mixology-focused ground floor, with further drinks-focused concepts to be announced soon. 

Capella Wellness, located on the second floor, will focus on healing treatments inspired by traditional practices. Guests will have access to four treatment rooms, a fitness studio equipped with Technogym products and an outdoor heated pool.
