Canopy debuts in Reykjavik
Canopy by Hilton in collaboration with Icelandair Hotels has announced the opening of the brand’s debut property, a 112-key hotel in Reykjavik.
Located in the heart of the city, Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre has been created with local influences and natural materials incorporated throughout the hotel’s architecture and interiors. All 112 guestrooms and suites are designed to fit in with neighbourhood culture and are decorated with shades of ocean blue and grey volcanic rock. Guestrooms have been decorated with local twists, including a Reykjavik music box containing traditional Icelandic lullabies. Guests will also be able to enjoy water naturally filtered by Icelandic lava, and discover local literature the hotel’s poets’ corner.

Also featured is a 24-hour fitness centre, event and meeting space for up to 50 people, complimentary bikes for guest use and an LP library with ten onsite record players. The food and beverage programme includes The Geiri Smart Restaurant, headed up by lead chef Jóhannes Steinn Jóhannesson, which will serve up local cuisine including fresh fish and organic vegetables, alongside complimentary wine and beer tasting sessions, a coffee shop and delicatessen.
