Inspired by the outdoor lifestyle Turks have led for centuries, Bodrum Loft – launching in May 2021 – has been designed by Tabanlioglu Architects to encapsulate modern village life with a focus on sustainability.
The development comprises 36 fully furnished villas ranging in size from two to four bedrooms, which are available to rent as part of a hotel programme or to lease long-term. Amenities offered include a swimming pool and landscaped gardens; fine-dining restaurants, in-villa catering and a bar; fitness centre and a spa.
With just under a third of the 57,000m2 site constructed on, the villas are subsequently surrounding by nature, which ensures the sustainability of the area. Sandalwood, olive, laurel, mastic, cranberry and citrus trees, along with the evergreen shrubs endemic to the Mediterranean, have been preserved throughout.
Istanbul-based Tabanlioglu Architects set out with the aim of creating adaptable spaces that live life around a courtyard and bring the outdoors inside – in keeping with nature and the surrounding topography. As such, the villas are linked by patios and have been embedded in the terrain, allowing every unit to achieve views of the bay. Each has a unique floor plan that features rustic, wooden details and local, hand-painted mosaics.
The use of natural rocks during construction further blends the villas into the landscape; their coating was prepared using an ancient Aegean recipe of hay and olive oil and applied with traditional methods. Green roofs meanwhile collect rainwater that is then recycled through a water filtration system for irrigation.
The resort’s culinary programme will comprise Loft Elia – a space shaded by olive trees for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which will serve a Mediterranean menu created by chef Yilmaz Ozturk – together with an authentic Italian restaurant located by the beach and a sushi venue plating up traditional Japanese delicacies. In addition, Turkish snacks such as lahmacun, pide and döner will be available daily by the oceanfront.
Activities on offer include a spa with indoor and open-air massage rooms, a private beach deck, boat chartering and transfers, a hair salon and fitness centre providing personal training sessions, yoga and pilates. The resort’s concierge team is also on hand to help guests discover the island’s hidden gems, including local eateries, exclusive boutiques and historical sites, as well as its other beaches and beach clubs.
Bodrum Loft is the latest development by Akfen Holding, which develops modern real estate projects as well as others in different sectors worldwide. The property is also a member of Leading Hotels of the World.
“We are delighted to be opening Bodrum Loft as what we offer is truly unique to both Bodrum and the Mediterranean. It is a project that constantly renews itself and creates an instant solution to the needs and requirements of its guests, which is why we chose to soft launch Summer 2020 for friends and family,” comments Pelin Akın Özalp, Board of Directors Member at Akfen Holding. “At a time where travellers are seeking safety, home-style offerings and a place they could spend extended periods of time with their loved ones, we are offering all of these things, in a beautiful setting. Bodrum Loft has been a project myself and the family have been working on for many years, ensuring nature is at the forefront, which is something we strongly believe in. We look forward to welcoming guests as soon as we’re open in May 2021.”
