Bell & Swift to renovate Loch Rannoch in Perthshire
Glasgow-based firm Bell & Swift has been appointed as interior designers for the refurbishment of the historic Loch Rannoch hotel in Perthshire. Work has begun to bring the Highland landmark back to its former glory ahead of its reopening in Spring 2021.
The renovation will include the creation of a new signature suite with loch views and a balcony, together with a full redesign and expansion of the guestrooms. The scheme will focus on retaining original features such as cornicing and mouldings while adding fresh and modern touches.
Elsewhere, the reception area and main lounge and bar will be transformed to focus on warmth and hospitality; the elegant space will also retain some of its well-loved period features, including fireplaces and a staircase.
In the breakfast room meanwhile, a complete revamp will see the addition of an artisan coffee and bakery, where guests and locals can enjoy informal dining throughout the day. The Ptarmigan Restaurant, which seats around 50 for dinner, will also be brought up to date and offers views of the nearby loch.
The property was bought from MacDonald Hotels in July by Loch Rannoch Estate Group, led by Nick Pattie, who managed the estate over 30 years ago.
“The location of Loch Rannoch is simply spectacular at any time of the year, I want to create a place that people can visit where traditional and modern sit perfectly together and the focus is on the warmth of the Scottish welcome,” says Pattie. “It’s a difficult time for the Scottish tourism industry, but we are proud to be investing in this popular area of Scotland. Bell & Swift impressed me with their vision and creativity as well as their experience in delivering in the hospitality industry and I am looking forward to getting the project underway.”
Dawn Campbell, co-founder & Managing Director of Bell & Swift, adds: “Our vision is to enhance the best of the existing features, while creating a sumptuous, modern design which visitors will want to visit time after time. The hotel is a gem in terms of location and we will complement the stunning views and amazing backdrop with thought provoking and welcoming interiors.”
Bell & Swift has over 20 years of experience working with global chains and boutique hotels including Hilton, Accor, IHG and Marriott.
