Angsana Corfu in Greece

Banyan Tree launches first European property

Banyan Tree has opened Angsana Corfu, its first property in Europe. Perched on a hillside near to the traditional fishing village of Benitses, the resort comprises 37 villas with private pools and sea views, each inspired by the Venetian architecture of historical homes on the island, as well as 159 guestrooms and suites.

Alongside offering the largest entry-level room size in Corfu at 41m², the property will also be home to the isle’s biggest infinity pool and hotel spa. The culinary programme meanwhile will be made up of four restaurants and seven lounge bars, including a beach bar. Dining options range from local Greek dining and Pan Asian sushi options, as well as the fine dining restaurant Botrini’s, helmed by Michelin-starred Corfiot-Italian chef Ettore Botrini. The Pan Asian Sushi option, Koh by Tokyo Joe – a specialty restaurant already present in Athens and in Mykonos – will serve a range of delicious exotic Japanese dishes and sushi platters.

Those on romantic breaks can discover mixology under the stars at rooftop lounge bar, Vertigo, or savour private dining at the water’s edge in the Sky beach bar. For fitness lovers, the Juice Bar at the indoor pool level serves fresh juices, fruits, Greek yogurt and smoothies. What’s more, guests can also take part in cooking classes with the culinary team and discover their inner chef by learning to produce authentic dishes.

Central to Angsana Corfu will be its spa, encompassing 11 treatment rooms including single and double options featuring a sea-view Jacuzzi facility and outdoor massage pavilions, an indoor heated pool and a gym. Treatments will place emphasis on the use of natural ingredients like native flowers and fruits, together with aromatherapy, the therapeutic sense of touch and a fusion of techniques from the East and West.

Other facilities on offer include an indoor swimming pool, gym, private fitness lessons, an outdoor yoga pavilion and water sports on the beach.

The resort’s meeting and events spaces include a conference room hosting up to 250 people in a cocktail reception and two meeting rooms with the capacity of 12 guests each in a boardroom-style set up.
