Art’otel poised to unveil European flagship in Rome
Art’otel, the contemporary lifestyle hotel brand owned by PPHE Hotel Group, has announced that its European flagship will open in the first half of 2024.
Art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio, a new premium lifestyle hotel with art and gastronomy at its core, will land in the heart of the Italian capital, brought to life by renowned Roman contemporary artist, Pietro Ruffo. The Roman destination will join existing Art’otel properties in the likes of London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb and Cologne. Each Art’otel serves as a blank canvas for a Signature Artist and their art collection, with Roman-native Ruffo working closely with lead interior designer Eyal Shoan and his studio Digital Space to create an immersive art experience.
Art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio marks the brand’s entrance to Italy as its debuts in a prime location on Piazza Sallustio. The hotel will comprise 99 contemporary guestrooms and suites, many with terraces and all featuring signature artworks by Pietro Ruffo, including originals. The redeveloped property will be home to an array of culture and entertainment facilities, with Ruffo’s artworks woven throughout the interior design for an immersive art-led experience.
A destination restaurant and bar with a large terrace will open from lunch until late, serving aperitivo to a DJ soundtrack. An art gallery will be home to ever-changing exhibitions, while other amenities will include a fitness centre with a sauna, and a creative meeting room
The opening will be helmed by Italian Diego Di Gaetano, the newly appointed General Manager. Tasked with bringing the Art’otel brand to life in Rome across all hotel operations, Di Gaetano brings with him over 20 years of hospitality experience, with a particular focus on luxury and lifestyle hotels within the Leading Hotels of the World and Design Hotels collections.
Di Gaetano comments: “I am particularly excited about the collaboration with Eyal Shoan and Pietro Ruffo. Of course, many hotels display art, but Art’otel’s collaboration with a Signature Artist in interior design and events programming, will really create immersive art experiences that you don’t see in other hotels. Every corner of the hotel, including the rooms, will be enhanced by Ruffo’s works of art, creating a fascinating and sexy contrast between its contemporaneity and the historicity of the location. The famous Roman actor Alberto Sordi used to describe Rome as ‘an open-air museum to be crossed on tiptoe’, I believe the Art’otel will fit into this museum with a breath of innovation.”
