Art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio has opened its doors, marking the brand’s debut in Italy.

Situated in the heart of Rome, the boutique lifestyle hotel combines contemporary art, bold design, gastronomy and innovative hospitality to deliver a fresh and immersive experience for modern travellers.

The property, located in Piazza Sallustio steps from La Dolce Vita’s Via Veneto, Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese, features 99 art-filled guestrooms and suites, with all suites boasting private terraces overlooking the historic Horti Sallustiani gardens. Designed in collaboration with acclaimed Roman contemporary artist Pietro Ruffo and lead interior designer Eyal Shoan of Digital Space, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio offers a unique fusion of art, culture, and lifestyle, setting a new benchmark for hospitality in the Eternal City.

“Art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is a milestone moment for our brand,” says Greg Hegarty, Co-Chief Executive Officer at PPHE Hotel Group. “Not only does this project bring the Art’otel brand to Italy for the first time, but it cements the unmissable collaboration between the hotel interior design created by Eyal Shoan (Digital Space), and the art of our Signature Artists that the brand stands for. With our Signature Artist Pietro Ruffo’s remarkable vision and our commitment to creating immersive lifestyle destinations, this property offers an entirely new way to experience Rome – as a vibrant, living canvas of art, food and culture.”

As with every art’otel, a Signature Artist has been integral to the hotel’s creative identity. Roman-born Pietro Ruffo, who was recently named Italy’s Artist of the Year by Inside Art magazine and is renowned for his ongoing collaborations with Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior and The Vatican Apostolic Library, has curated an exclusive collection of works that will permeate every corner of the property. Ruffo’s pieces explore Rome’s layered history, from celestial constellations to the city’s evolving cultural and natural landscapes. Celestial maps and zodiac signs embellish the terraces of the 11 suites, whilst his Festina Lente and Gente di Roma artworks dress the guestrooms and constellations adorn the lobby’s stone walls and are woven into the carpeted corridors. A showcase like no other of Ruffo’s signature works, including originals, make the hotel the largest permanent collection of his work to date.

Pietro Ruffo explains: “The collection of Art’otel tells the story of Rome’s history through nature, people, and the stars above us. It’s an opportunity to reimagine the Eternal City in a contemporary light and give travellers the tools to see and feel Rome with a different perspective.”

The hotel features an on-site art gallery, hosting rotating exhibitions with the inaugural by Pietro Ruffo himself and providing a unique setting for events and private hire. Guests and locals will also benefit from the hotel’s signature art’beat events programme, which brings regularly changing cultural activations in art, music, fashion, wellness, and gastronomy.

Art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio also introduces Pan-Asian restaurant Yezi, featuring a sun-drenched terrace designed by Pietro Ruffo. Additional facilities include state-of-the-art fitness centre with advanced TechnoGym equipment, sauna, creative meeting spaces and bespoke services that cater to both business and leisure travellers.

The opening of art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio marks a significant milestone for art’otel, the contemporary lifestyle hotel brand owned by PPHE Hotel Group, more widely known for its Park Plaza properties. Renowned for successful openings in cities like London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb, and Cologne, art’otel continues to expand its European portfolio with a focus on immersive, art-led hospitality.
