Arrive set to mark first casual hotel

Modern technology will take centre stage with the new Arrive Hotel, Palm Springs, set to open in winter 2015.

Snubbing traditional hotel services in favour of a casual and comfortable style, the concept is built around removing conventional aspects such as front desk and guestroom phones, and replacing them with the technology that we use in everyday life, like texting. The purpose is to offer guests a comfortable and easy stay, stripped of formalities.

Technology such as smart room keys, electronic check-in and robot room service already target millennials, yet Arrive Hotels offers the advantage of experience; one of the co-founders, Ezra Callahan is one of the original Facebook employees.

Currently under construction in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs and built in the areas signature mid-century modern style, the hotel will house just 32 guestrooms, placing emphasis on social spaces. An 80-seat restaurant will offer indoor and al fresco dining, while the 66-foot swimming pool will complement the 20-foot Jacuzzi.

Aiming to become a social landmark, each aspect of the Arrive experience aims to leave a lasting impression. Guests will check-in with a bartender, with all members of staff cross-trained to assist at any time.

Guestrooms will continue the mid-century theme, with clerestory windows offering views of the desert mountains, Apple TV and Malin + Goetz amenities. Guests are encouraged to communicate with the hotel both during the stay and prior to the trip via email or text with any special requests, without the need for a specialist app.

Arrive Hotel is currently on track for a winter 2015 opening.
