Andaz plans global expansion

Andaz Hotels has announced several additions to its 16-hotel portfolio, and is set to expand into over ten countries by 2019. The announcement follows the opening of a development in Delhi close to Gandhi International Airport, which features 401 loft-inspired guestrooms and 129 serviced apartments.

Expected to open in 2017, Andaz Munich will mark the entry of the brand into Germany, offering a new space for innovative thinkers. Located in the cultural district of Schwabinger Tor – once the bohemian heart of Munich – the property comprises 221 guestrooms, 13 junior suites, 41 suites, and a presidential suite. Additional facilities include all-day dining, a lounge and rooftop bar, and a fitness centre with spa and pool facilities.

Looking to the Asia Pacific region, Andaz has collaborated with designer Andre Fu to create contemporary lifestyle destination in Singapore. The 342-key development is situated at the crossroads of cultural districts Kampong Glam, Bras Basah Bugis and Little India, and features warm russet, paprika, aubergine and mustard tones typically found in Indian and Malay handicrafts, while an entrance doorbell housed in a bespoke post-box and shophouse style doors in bold mango yellow reflect the surrounding neighbourhoods. Elsewhere, seven F&B venues follow a market-to-table philosophy.

Further expansion for the brand is expected in 2019, with the opening of Andaz Am Belvedere in Vienna. Inspired by the city’s art, architecture and diverse cuisine, the hotel will take cues from Prince Eugene of Savoy – the developer and art collector behind the Belvedere Palace – and feature contemporary local art and design throughout. Perched 60 metres above ground level on the 16th floor, a rooftop bar also offers vistas of the nearby Schweizergarten and entire Austrian capital. Set to be developed in the new Quartier Belvedere, a sought-after district with shopping options, green spaces, cultural attractions and sports facilities, the hotel will be a five-minute walk from the new Vienna Central Station, while the nearest airport can be reached in 20 minutes.

Andaz London Liverpool Street, meanwhile, will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year following a refurbishment by Conran and Partners to integrate hints of East London life into its design. As the first Andaz hotel to open under the Hyatt umbrella, it marks a milestone in the group’s development as a global brand.

“With the Andaz London Liverpool Street celebrating its tenth year, it not only demonstrates the individual success of this hotel but also that of the Andaz brand,” comments Otto Steenbeek, General Manager at Andaz London Liverpool Street. “Through constant innovation, Andaz London Liverpool Street has continued to develop what it means to be Andaz and has been instrumental in the development of East London, through championing and reflecting this dynamic region of the capital.

Steenbeek continues: “The new openings, and the launch of the first Andaz in India, signifies that as a brand Andaz has reached a defining level of maturity and that the concept created at the hotel ten years ago is still flourishing. We are delighted to be part of the brand’s next chapter and are excited to see what develops over the next ten years.”
