Ancient Rome meets modern Italy with G-Rough

Set to open in March this year, G-Rough is housed in a 16th century building in Rome.

The ten-suite, rough luxe hotel is located near the Piazza Navona, and is the latest venture from the team behind PalazzinaG in Venice. Drawing inspiration from the country’s rich history and design prowess, entrepreneur and owner Gabriele Salini and business partner Emanuele Garosci masterfully blended the two together to create an unconventional “Made in Italy” concept of luxury.

The hotel spans five floors, with each one drawing inspiration from a different Italian designer from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. These include Giò Ponti, Ico Parisi, Silvio Cavatorta, Paolo Venini, Guglielmo Ulrich, Osvaldo Borsani and Archimede Seguso. Each suite features original furniture, and the 90m2 penthouse affords a stunning view the Sant’Agnese dome.

The interior’s Fellini-esque visual landscape mixes fantasy and baroque, and is augmented by a custom-crafted luxury experience including a lifestyle manager and exclusive tour of the hidden side of Rome. The hotel also features a 35m2 café and bar on the ground floor, which will showcase artwork from local up-and-coming designers and artists.

The meeting between friends and business partners Salini and Garosci was formed over a shared vision of redefining luxury. This, and an unconventional approach to hospitality, are the sparks that gave life to G-Rough.
