Anantara Golden Triangle unveils The Mekong Explorer Tent
Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort has unveiled a new addition to its accommodation offer, The Mekong Explorer Tent.
The hillside retreat, designed by Zachary Underwood, is nestled in a 160-acre bamboo forest, offering sweeping views of the verdant jungle, the Mekong River and the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation’s 20 rescued elephants roaming below.
The two-bedroom space features a mix of leather, wood and Jim Thompson fabrics, while handcrafted furniture and locally-sourced amenities showcase the region’s rich culture, including sustainable teas from Sawanabondin, chocolates from Kad Kakao in Northern Thailand, crispy mushrooms in collaboration with DoiTung, and a Praewa cloth bag, traditionally used by hill tribes in the Lanna region.
Each spacious bedroom in The Mekong Explorer Tent features an en suite bathroom and king-sized bed while, outside, private terraces are home to an infinity pool and a bathtub.
The resort has also introduced a number of Mekong Explorer Suites, which are inspired by intrepid explorers of the Mekong River, blending Thai Lanna elements with colonial influences. Inside, dark wood paneling, elephant-inspired décor and antique-style travel trunks nod to the area’s history and traditions. Each suite features a balcony with jungle views, a cantilevered Thai daybed, rain shower and terrazzo soaking tub.
