Aman Venice unveils Coccina’s Apartment
Housed in one of the city’s eight palazzos on the Grand Canal, Aman Venice embodies all that is sumptuous about La Serenissima, offsetting Rococo artworks with the restraint of Jean-Michel Gathy interiors.
Now, the property has unveiled Coccina’s Apartment, a luxurious suite named after a family of affluent traders and seafarers who moved to Venice from Bergamo in the mid-16th century. The Coccina family built the Palazzo, which was designed by architect Giangiacomo Dei Grigi – a follower of Sansovino – in 1550.
Situated on the fourth floor of the Palazzo and accessed by a private elevator, the apartment features three guestrooms – covering a total of 3,122ft² – with en-suite bathrooms, king-size beds, a private living room and unobstructed views over the Grand Canal and the Canal Garden. The design and décor of the space includes pieces by several of Italy’s greatest artists including frescoes and reliefs that reflect the rich history behind Venice’s evolving artwork and architecture. Elsewhere, contemporary furnishings have been used to complement authentic silk wallcoverings, chandeliers, wood panelling, chinoiserie and painted ceilings.
Created using three existing suites – the Papadopoli Stanza Grande Canal, the Palazzo Stanza Canal Grande and the Palazzo Chamber Affresco – with the addition of the Chapel Lounge, which has become the private living room, the apartment also boasts high ceilings, tall wooden doors and a fireplace, while light-filled bathrooms featuring deep-soaking bathtubs make the most of the postcard vistas of the surroundings.
Ideal for large families or groups of friends, Coccina’s Apartment provides a base for those looking to explore the Floating City, with unrestricted access to hotel facilities as well as a personal host to assist with requests.
