Alila Resort unveils Ventana Big Sur

Alila Resort has announced plans to open Ventana Big Sur, an enclave set amid 160-acres on the Pacific Coast, following a multimillion-dollar revitalisation.

Ventana will feature 59 guestrooms and suites, a full-service Spa Alila, two outdoor pools with infinity-edge hot tub and Japanese hot baths. The reconceptualised Sur House restaurant also offers views of the Pacific Ocean from an outdoor patio.

Encompassing an intimate outdoor theme, the resort’s Redwood Canyon Glampsites comprise custom-designed glamping mattress and premium linens in a safari-style canvas tent. Set with vistas of a 20-acre canyon, interior facilities include power bricks with electrical and USB plug-ins, handheld lanterns and reading lights, access to ice chests and custom-curated picnic baskets, and a selection of bath and shower amenities.

A glamping bathhouse also offers teak-enclosed showers, heated floors, full hotel amenities, marble vanities and restroom facilities, while access to Spa Alila, Social House, hotel pools and the fitness centre is available.

Spa Alila’s treatments are rooted in ancient Asian methods and use eco-lux products that meld the healing properties of both earth and sea, crafted by local artisans and organic skincare brands such as Arcona Los Angeles, Laurel Whole Plant Organics, Java Coffee-Infused Skin Care and Body Bliss.

Meanwhile, rising above the Pacific where the forest and sea converge, The Sur House restaurant is helmed by Executive Chef Paul Corsentino. Inspired by the sustainable ingredients of California’s central coast and America’s culinary havens, Corsentino crafts coastal cuisine using Pacific-sourced seafood delivered by local fishermen, free-range meats from local farmers, produce from nearby foragers and homemade accouterments.

A team of local vintners and The Sur House sommelier have assembled a 10,000-bottle cellar of small production central coast wines. Craft cocktails and a curated selection of beer are offered in a rustic setting, highlighted by natural wood interiors and furnishings, with views of the surrounding coast, redwoods and mountains of the region.

The renovation also features a Social House with three unique lifestyle spaces: the 7,000ft2 Ocean Meadow Lawn for events; Glass House Gallery; and Alila Experience Program featuring discovery-based activities such as hiking with local guides.
