25hours to open second Copenhagen outpost on the city’s Paper Island
25hours Hotels is set to launch its second property in Copenhagen, slated to open in July 2024 just a few steps away from Nyhavn.
25hours Hotel Paper Island is a newbuild comprising 128 rooms, an Asian restaurant, and a day bar and rooftop bar, situated in the city centre on the island of Christiansholm, also known as Paper Island. The island in Copenhagen harbour was long used as a paper warehouse and was most recently the location of a well-known street food market. Contrasting deliberately with the hustle and bustle of the city centre, the latest 25hours hotel adopts the ambience of a quintessentially Danish summer home, with a focus on rest and recuperation.
The ensemble of buildings was planned by local architects Cobe, while Swedish designers from Stylt Trampoli in Gothenburg have crafted interiors. The creative minds have been inspired by the energy of the island, including its unique blend of unspoilt nature and urban lifestyle. Natural colours and materials are juxtaposed with the vibrant energy of city life, while nostalgic touches also arise through collected objects that are a legacy of bygone eras.
Food and beverage at the Paper Island hotel is helmed by Jan Tran, with cooking done in an open kitchen, and guests set to be seated at communal tables or along the kitchen counter. Situated in the extended lobby on the ground floor of the hotel is the Nomad Day Bar, accompanied by a terrace on the quay, while a rooftop bar on the eighth floor rounds off the F&B.
“With its location directly in the harbour, the hotel perfectly embodies the unique character of Copenhagen. Our guests can enjoy that special hygge feeling, far from the madding crowd of the city centre, but with direct access via a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists,” explains General Manager Grit Rister. “You can rest assured that both of our properties are keen to welcome neighbours and locals, offering lots of pop-up stores, live music and events, in addition to the restaurant, café and bar.”
