Sofia Miami, the second outpost of Charles Khabouth’s restaurant, boasts an upscale dining experience that is flourished by custom lighting design-engineered and fabricated by VISO.
Working in collaboration with Studio Munge, the fixture was specially crafted to meet the location’s weather requirements, needing to stand strong against Miami gales without compromising the original design intent and aesthetics.
The unique light fixture is featured in the restaurant’s bar space – which is half indoors and half outdoors – sitting at 158.63” and housing 146 acrylic tubes for the exterior section, and 197 acrylic tubes for the interior. The arrangement results in a lighting fixture made up of 343 acrylic tubes that drape at different heights, creating a unique undulating pattern that wraps around the bar. A scintillating effect is added to the organic form through the reflection of 94 LED downlights.
Illuminating spaces with innovative lighting for over 25 years, Toronto-based VISO has collaborated with interior designers and architects worldwide, creating lighting solutions for guestrooms and common areas, as well as restaurants and large-scale custom projects.
