Stellar Works reveals Milan showcase
Stellar Works has announced plans to present a showcase of new designs by Neri&Hu and Space Copenhagen during Milan Design Week, as well as mid-century pieces by Danish masters Vilhem Wolhert and Jens Risom.
Exhibiting for the third consecutive year in the Tortona Design District, the brand’s creative directors Neri&Hu have conceived an evocative any/everyWhere installation that plays with the ideas of location, context and place, exploring how interior objects define how we live.
“It is an honour to return to Milan Design Week to showcase Stellar Works’ new contemporary designs and the mid-century masterpieces, which we now have the privilege of bringing to life,” comments Yuichiro Hori, founder and CEO of Stellar Works.
“We have worked with our creative directors and long-time collaborators, Neri&Hu to create a dynamic installation in which to reveal their new furniture collections, alongside new pieces by Space Copenhagen and evolved reissued designs by Vilhem Wolhert and Jens Risom. I hope people take time to explore any/everyWhere and ponder the questions it raises.”
Neri&Hu will present the Industry collection, a range of utilitarian-inspired dining chairs, armchairs and lounge models characterised by simple modern lines, in addition to the versatile Tripod series – featuring five signature three-legged occasion tables that are both lightweight and portable.
New for Milan, Space Copenhagen unveils the Infinity modular sofa that celebrates the pure shape and softness of curves. The sofa has been carefully designed with a minimum of edges and near-invisible detailing, and can be personalised for different moods and environments.
Yuichiro Hori is also a collector of mid-century design, and will showcase three original designs by Vilhem Wolhert and Jens Risom, forming part of the brand’s vintage collection in 2018.
The Triangle chair, designed by Vilhem Wolhert to complement his architectural work on the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, has been influential in the evolution of furniture in public spaces. The new aluminium edition borrows a less-is-more ethos from its predecessor, yet is envisioned for outdoor settings.
Wolhert’s Bar Chair will further be revealed for the first time at Stellar Works’ press preview during Milan Design Week, and is set to be introduced into the brand’s portfolio after its prototype was bought by Hori.
Finally, the installation will showcase the reissue of the iconic C140 chair, designed by Danish-American creative Jens Risom in upholstered and cane back versions. Originally launched in 1955, the chair featured in the White House under President Lyndon b. Johnson’s administration, and was occupied by Johnson during the signing of both the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Highway Beautification Act in 1965.
