SLC reveals 2017 trend report

To mark the beginning of the interiors events season, Style Library Contract has shared four trends they see having the greatest influence in global hospitality design in 2017. These include individuality, boutique chic, natural spirit and artistry.

SLC believe that, more than ever before, hotel operators aim to create memorable destinations, whether it’s a recolour of an existing design or developing something completely new. With Style Library Contract, clients have the creative freedom to curate products that are uniquely theirs, created by the worlds most prominent interior brands.

“Just like our clients, we’re obsessed with great design, attention to detail and quality. So, we work together to celebrate our passion and create beautiful commercial spaces,” comments Style Library Contracts Sales Director, Carolyn Mitchell.

To adhere to the boutique chic trend, SLC suggests Harlequin’s Momentum, a designer wallcovering range that boasts an eclectic mix of design styles inspired both by architecture and by abstract interpretations of natural forms.

Claire Vallis, Design Director, expands: “This launch really encapsulates the cosmopolitan spirit of sleek, boutique hotels and glamorous townhouses, whilst still retaining its approachability. Targeted at both the domestic and the contract markets, the fabrics and wallcoverings exude an architectural, structural feel, but in an accessible, understandable way.”

Elsewhere, Scion channels natural spirit through a variety of wallcoverings inspired by forests, fresh air, fjords, food, freedom and fun. New launch Noukku, named after a species of Finnish wildflower, is in tune with the ‘Hygge’ trend with its versatile and spontaneous design.

Scion Designer Hannah Bowen explains: “Noukku is brought to life through an invigorating colour palette and use of textured effects inspired by natural elements. I wanted to create versatile and spontaneous designs which invigorate your senses and encourage you to step away from your busy lifestyle, an ideal backdrop to escaping away to a contemporary hotel”

Lastly, elements of the artistry trend are present throughout Zoffany’s new Boleyn collection. Comprising prints, weaves and embroideries, Boleyn captures the faded elegance of time worn fabrics and wallpapers, each with their own story to tell.

Peter Gomez, Zoffany Head of Design explains: “our aim is to create unique interiors with artistry, sophistication and integrity. We love to utilise our extensive archive for inspiration, each yarn, each brush stroke, each process is meticulously considered during the design process”
