Roset Group transforms former industrial site into museum and training school
The Roset Group has completed the rehabilitation of its historic industrial site into a training school, museum and store.
The factory, which was acquired by Antoine Roset in 1892 and has since played a key role in the history of the group – has been completely renovated after two years of work.
The rehabilitation of the Montagnieu site allowed for the restructuring of 4,564m² of the 5,855m² site, with a portion demolished to provide new spaces adapted to the changing needs of the Roset Group.
The new site includes Studio 1860, a space dedicated to public use and exploration of the group’s history. An educational section will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the industrial history of the site, while elsewhere, emblematic pieces will be on display, tracing the evolution of the Ligne Roset and Cinna brands.
In addition to the space’s permanent collection, new pieces will be exhibited and renewed each year. Currently, 42 pieces are on display, including the Astarac four-poster bed designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the Elementaire armchair by Jean Nouvel, a chest of drawers by Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti, and a highchair by Philippe Stark.
The renovated site also includes a factory store, showroom and garden for the display of outdoor furniture.
Also found on-site is an internal training school dedicated to the transmission of expertise in upholstery and sewing, as well as a number of new workshops.
