Republic of Fritz Hansen presents Plenum
Republic of Fritz Hansen has launched Plenum, a furniture range that pays homage to the change in modern work practices. Designed by Jaime Hayon, the new high-back sofa system, the series consists of a one, two and three-seater sofa with features such as power plugs, USB ports and mounted or separate tables.
Hayon’s South European background is evident through Plenum’s bold colours, soft shapes and curvaceous design, which defies traditionally square office furniture. “In creating Plenum, the overall objective was to challenge the concept of traditional office furniture and create a feeling of home,” explains Hayon. “It is important to remember that my design is made for humans, to be used by humans. I believe that design should provoke emotions. Design should make you feel good and most of all create happiness.”
Set to be previewed at Orgatec in Cologne later this month, the collection is suitable for open office and hotel lobby spaces, and offers a comforting refuge for private concentration, co-working or socialising.
Christian Andresen, Head of Design at Fritz Hansen, adds: “Plenum is born from a family of Hayon designs: the Ro and the Fri chairs as well as the Lune sofa. Every one of these items were originally designed for the private home but have proven to fit perfectly in numerous public spaces all over the world. At Fritz Hansen, we value the fact that designers work with us, not for us. That is how we achieve the best results.”
