Ready Made Go 2 returns to Ace

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch and Modern Design Review are returning to the London Design Festival with Ready Made Go 2, presenting a new collection of products and events, with original works by a cross section of London’s most exciting designers.

The 2015 collaboration of Modern Design Review magazine and Ace Hotel – Ready Made Go – saw a series of products specially commissioned from London-based designers, including Philippe Malouin, Studio Vit, Tomás Alonso and Hilda Hellström.

This year’s round of objects will be introduced and installed at Ace Hotel London Shoreditch. Rather than being displayed on plinths, the pieces are integrated into the fabric of the hotel and shown in the positions for which they were intended. London Design Festival attendees are invited to experience the products in use and, in doing so, contemplate their commission, making and function.

The Ready Made Go 2 project is conceived, commissioned and curated by London-based independent design magazine, Modern Design Review. Included in this year’s product list are lounge seating, signage, and art works.

To celebrate the return of Ready Made Go, designer Philippe Malouin has revealed a 2016 update to the stackable wooden stool he created as part of last year’s Festival.

The functional stool, which was a runaway success, is now available in four colours: Terracotta, Petrol, Khaki and Lacquered Birch. It is designed in such a way that it can be easily moved around the hotel and stacked on top of others when not in use. Made from only four parts and six screws, the stools are easily flat packed but also robust enough to withstand daily wear and tear. The stools are a permanent fixture in the London hotel, and are now also for sale at the Ace Hotel London Shoreditch store.
