Lasvit presents Via Lucis
Specialist glasswork designers Lasvit showcase Via Lucis, a journey through unique and contemporary projects in glass, presented at Salone del Mobile 2016.
The presentation has taken place at the Sale Napoleoniche of Palazzo Serbelloni, where Napoleon Bonaparte resided during his stay in Milan. The precious bohemian crystal chandeliers created for him have been restored and reinvented by Lasvit’s and Fondazione Serbelloni’s team.
Lasvit is proud to pay homage to one of Czech greatest visionaries, presenting champagne cooler by Jan Kaplicky. Meanwhile, Major designers including Daniel Libeskind, the Campana Brothers and Arik Levy, continue their collaboration with Lasvit reinterpreting their past collections, focusing on the theme Art de la Table, with extraordinary glass objects and tableware.
Renowned names such as Andre Fu, Moritz Waldemeyer and Maurizio Galante reinterpret the Neo-classical taste of chandeliers with a contemporary twist, combining Czech glassmakers’ artisanal skills and craftsmanship.
Fu introduces Tac/Tile, inspired by the 1932 Maison de Verre and incorporating traditional Chinese roof tiles, Czech metropolitan passageways and modernist glass block work. Meanwhile, Galante strives to establish balance through Ludwig, presenting slick, streamlined forms that remain faithful to neo-classical appearances with modern finishes through industrial glass tubes. Waldemeyer’s Facet reimagines the classic chandelier outline, turning it into a bold, diamond-shaped hexagonal building block that can remain as a single pendant or become incorporated into a large chandelier that is almost unlimitedly extendable.
In addition, Lasvit premieres a dynamic lighting sculpture Intergalactic created by internal designers Petra Krausova and Libor Sostak, inspired by the almost exclusively Czech semi-precious stone, Moldavite. Intergalactic’s spherical black metal base is covered with more than 1500 hand-blown glass elements, individually lit with LED lights programmed to 7 different modes and remotely controlled.
Other features include Praha by Libensky; Momento Mori and Frozen by Velcovsky; Stairs by Atalia Oi and Crystal Rocks by Levy, amongst many others.
