La Manufacture Cogolin and Glithero collaborate on new Botanical Rugs collection
La Manufacture Cogolin has collaborated with London-based design studio Glithero on its new hand-knotted Botanical Rugs collection.
Tim Simpson and Sarah van Gameren, co-founders of Glithero, took inspiration from their own herbarium and pressed flora. The botanical designs are inspired by the Millefleur tapestries of the early Renaissance; and the gradients in the rugs’ background allude to the botanical photographs of 19thcentury botanist and photographer Anna Atkins.
By using different materials and experimenting with the shades of the background, the collection studies the relationship between plants and light. The rugs appear to change slightly depending on which angle they are viewed from.
The rugs are available in four colourways: rose, moss, corn and blue. The rose, moss and corn models depict a subtle moment of colour in nature, whilst the blue references Glithero’s classic canontype collection, printed by light with early photographic blueprinting techniques.
La Manufacture Cogolin will present the collection at its Paris showroom during Paris Design Week from 4-14 September.
