Kaldewei shares findings of first sustainability report
Kaldewei has published its Luxstainability® Report, an exploration of its climate goals and the measures it will take to reach them.
For over 100 years, the company has been manufacturing bathroom objects from sophisticated steel enamel, which is a 100% circular material. As of recently, however, the business has started to use bluemint® Steel, which marks another step in the direction of CO2-free production, and sees the carbon footprint of every product in its ‘Nature Protect’ series reduced by up to 70%.
“Sustainable developments start with design and choice of materials,” says Franz Kaldewei, CEO of Kaldewei. “As it is at this point the decision is made on how recyclable a product will be at the end of its life cycle.”
Commitment to the environment has long been a tenet to the Kaldewei brand, which was the first sanitary company to commit to complying with the 2015 Paris Climate Protection Agreement. The brand has also been a partner of WWF Germany for over five years, initially focusing on the implementation of a marine protection programme, and now on the promotion of reusable packaging in Germany.
