Jorge Pensi designs office furnishings for Pedrali

Italian furniture manufacturer Pedrali has unveiled office furnishings designed by Jorge Pensi.

The products include Ypsilon Connect, a space divider, and Temps Low Back, an update on the Temps executive chair.

Ypsilon Connect is a functional free standing, sound absorbing space divider. Featuring clean lines and easily placeable in a variety of settings, Ypsilon Connect is characterised by acoustic panels that are shaped around a structure formed by two die-cast aluminium bases and extruded aluminium columns.

“Very interesting to mention is that the extruded profile is the same as the one we made for the three-legs table that we launched thirteen years ago,” explains Jorge Pensi. “It is a simple element with a strong identity.”

One of the greatest strengths lies in its extensive customisation possibilities, thanks to which users can create ever new layouts and consequently manage their spaces more effectively, to create welcoming office spaces or functional training and meeting rooms, even remotely. In large open-plan environments, the panels can be aligned to each other to form a partition wall.

“When we launched it, we thought it could represent a new horizon for Ypsilon,” reveals Costanze Schütz, designer at Jorge Pensi Design Studio. “We wanted to create very singular, configurable acoustic panels for different uses that could change easily.”

Ypsilon Connect is extremely versatile and can change its appearance according to needs by simply adding accessories such as whiteboards, shelves or coat hangers on any of its sides. This multifunctional panel can be also wired to enable the installation of a TV screen holder.

Originally launched in 2018, the Temps executive chair has been updated to feature a lower backrest. It is designed to seamlessly fit both in office meeting rooms and residential settings, while satisfying the growing demand for home office.

Pensi explains: “Temps can be used in a conference room as well as for home working because it is comfortable.”

Pure and elegant, Temps low back has a striking feature in its height-adjustable base made in die-cast aluminium. The chair guarantees excellent ergonomics and comfort thanks to its weight-activated, synchro-tilt mechanism that is able to regulate the degree of tilting autonomously according to the user’s body weight. The seat and backrest feature polyurethane injected foam padding, embracing the chair user.

“We want our objects to integrate in the space without crying,” says Pensi. “We like to think of our objects as tools for architects to complete their spaces, to live with other objects in different spaces.”
