Jennifer Manners’ /re/Purpose collection to be displayed at Sleep & Eat
Jennifer Manners’ /re/Purpose sustainable rugs will be used in The Hub networking space at Sleep & Eat, in keeping with the Wilson Associates’ brief of creating a completely sustainable space at the event.
Made from 100% recycled plastic, the new hand-knotted rugs offer a sustainable approach to timeless floorcoverings. The range recently won the Decorex Sustainability Award 2019 for its luxurious, eco-conscious, durable and stain resistant qualities.
Discarded polyethylene components – around 4000 BPA-free plastic bottles per rug – that would otherwise find their way into the ocean or a landfill, are processed using heat and water to create a soft and robust yarn. The fine, matte appearance resembles that of wool; however, the inherent qualities of the recycled plastic fibre offer greater durability, resisting accidental spills and fading, as well as being bleach cleanable.
Each piece is handmade-to-order by artisans in India with the same gentle care and rigorous ethical standards as any of the brand’s other products. The rugs’ elegant lines and colour palette make it compatible with both commercial and residential projects; and the range is currently available in five designs with bespoke options available on colour, size and pattern – all comprising the same luxurious finish for which the brand is known.
