Il Fanale debuts Plie ceiling light
Italian lighting manufacturer Il Fanale has unveiled its Plie ceiling light, a modern reinterpretation of the traditional conical ceramic diffuser with a pleated effect.
Made in Italy, the ceramic diffuser has been reimagined using brass or aluminium and adding a LED source into the diffuser.
Recalling the pleated skirts of 1950s female fashion, the result is a compact object with a romantic look that can be used in combination or as a stand-alone piece.
Founded in 1979 by Fausto Dalla Torre and his wife Luisa, Il Fanale combines their passion for lighting with their artisan knowledge to produce the highest quality lamps.
Since then, the company has expanded production from country to industrial and new decò style and developed contemporary collections with young designers from the Italian scene including Cristina Celestino, Elena Salmistraro, Matteo Cibic and Brogliato Traverso
Using precious materials such as brass, copper and glass together with a peculiar oxidation process – for which the formula is still passed down within the family – has resulted in a traditional style that confers a unique and inimitable appearance.
