Fritz Hansen extends Drop chair colourways
Fritz Hansen has added four new shades to its Drop chair range: chic grey, yellow, pink and blue. Accompanying the existing classic black and white colourways, the expanded colour selection can create simple graphic colour blocking in a restaurant or standalone vibrancy in a hallway or office.
Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and said to be one of his personal favourites, the Drop chair was inspired by Jacobsen’s desire to highlight his wife’s shoulders as she sat at her dressing table. Relaunched in 2014, the piece became popular in small urban apartments and studios as well as bar and restaurant settings thanks to its uncontrived shape.
In addition to the new colours, the brand has introduced a re-designed cushion that has been moulded to fill the entire seat. Available in two shades of grey, it offers greater comfort whilst maintaining the original design aesthetic.
