Ege designs featured in Versailles Sofitel
Carpet specialist Ege has provided a selection of custom solutions to Hotel Le Louis Versailles Château MGallery by Sofitel, a property designed by the Moscow-based Sundukovy Sisters to blend historical refinement with contemporary elegance.
With its historic location in mind, the studio was inspired by both the existing architecture and surrounding greenery, and developed interiors that drew from the Versailles aesthetic.
The sisters chose to install carpet on the existing floor as part of the transformation as this solution was most effective in terms of budget and timing, whilst Ege’s custom options offered the chance to incorporate a pattern resembling elements of the Gardens of Versailles.
A rich emerald-green palette, combined with a concrete inspired texture, creates a luxurious setting in the hotel’s reception and lounge areas, with the design reflecting the lawn pattern of the gardens and enhancing the wider scheme’s heritage influence. The concrete element is further transferred to the walls, blending with the antique gold and dark green décor, a choice informed by the colours of the Versailles parks.
Irina and Olga Sundukovy comment: “Using classical textures in a contemporary surrounding allowed us to implement the design idea. We focused on baroque ornaments and elements, made in contemporary materials and added a note of irony, which is typical for our style. We brought the stylised patterns of the Gardens of Versailles greenhouse into the interiors. Thus, the hotel interior mirrors the location and becomes an important part of the hotel stay.”
Ege’s highline 80/20 1400 (wool/nylon) mix was implemented throughout the reception and lounge area, whilst a highline 80/20 1100 (wool/nylon) and highline 1100 blend features in corridors and guestrooms
