Chelsom channels Italian aesthetics with Laguna
British lighting brand Chelsom has announced the launch of Laguna, a member of its Edition 26 collection for 2018. Incorporating the use of rediscovered original artisan glass moulds from the 1960s, the result is a family of geometric patterned mouth-blown table lamps and pendants.
The original Laguna moulds were created by Italian glass makers from the Venice region, with Chelsom’s partner factory keeping them in storage until 2015 when they were unearthed and restored. The first pieces blown from the original moulds inspired Chelsom to begin the design process to create collections inspired by Italian aesthetics.
A trio of colours- olive, mocca and aqua- were selected to best show off the intricacies of the pattern relief and the weight of each individual piece, whilst metalwork options of black bronze, golden bronze or brushed nickel have been chosen to best complement the glass finishes. All products have been wired with a gold or silver silk covered cable, and a range of fabric shades with various material and colour options are available for table models.
