Benchmark to debut new designs at Clerkenwell

British furniture maker Benchmark will present new pieces by Foster + Partners and Space Copenhagen as part of the British Collection at Clerkenwell Design Week, located in the barrel roofed Crypt on Clerkenwell Green of St James’s Church.

The OVO series by Foster & Partners comprises tables, storage, benches and stools in upholstered finishes, all of which combine soft geometry and careful detailing, while a new ebonised finish also presents a contrast to the existing oak and American walnut options.

The stools and bar chair are offered in three heights, while the OVO upholstered bench – featuring twin stitching running through the seat pad – is available in a standard width for dining or as a hallway bench, together with a wider version suitable for reception areas in hotels. The attention to detail even extends to the  Each piece also comes in natural oak or walnut paired with cognac or dark brown leather.

The Muse Sofa by Space Copenhagen meanwhile will be presented in a new smaller version, combining the designers’ aesthetic with Benchmark’s deep-rooted values in craftsmanship. Inspired by Donald Judd’s minimalist universe, the sofa features natural timber and 100% natural, non-toxic upholstery developed in collaboration with Naturalmat. The design can also be adapted into L shapes, U shapes and bespoke sizes to fit various hospitality environments.

Working closely with Benchmark, Space Copenhagen has created a simple design that highlights the characteristic grain of oak. The Muse Sofa is available in both oak and ash with a choice of subtle toned finishes in textile or leather upholstery.

Both the OVO collection and Muse Sofa are produced in Benchmark’s workshop in West Berkshire, England.
