Ariostea kits out Casa Materia with signature porcelain stoneware
Ariostea is placing the spotlight on its work at Italian bed and breakfast Casa Materia.
Located in the historic Sassi di Matera, the property was previously an abandoned lamione – one many typical local houses built entirely from ‘tufo’ stone. Now, the hotel has been transformed by its owner Michele Barberio of XYZ Factory.
The rooms and en-suite facilities were designed to offer maximum comfort, blending contemporary living needs with a natural design. The design team chose Ariostea – part of Iris Ceramica Group – to supply its porcelain stoneware surfaces for the property’s floor and wallcoverings.
Ariostea’s Teknostone ceramic surfaces combine the appeal of natural stone with the high technical performance of porcelain stoneware, bridging the gap between the aesthetic features of age-old architecture and contemporary living needs.
At Casa Materia, the Teknostone collection in colour taupe blends subtly with the interiors of guestrooms, bathrooms and public spaces, thanks to a texture that recalls the off-shaded, neutral hues of natural stone. The material is resistant to thermal shock and wear, as well as waterproof, durable and easy to maintain. A functional solution for hospitality spaces, it is also non-toxic and easy to sanitise.
