Anthology to launch new collections at Clerkenwell
Style Library Contract and Anthology have launched a selection of new upholstery fabrics and complementary wallcoverings ahead of Clerkenwell Design Week.
The Hibiki and Ikko fabric collections, the titles translating to ‘sound’ and ‘fragment’ respectively, are inspired by the intricate patterns and textures found in the natural landscape.
Hibiki, a two-tone viscose and polyester velvet, features a subtle ribbed texture and an undulating origami-style pattern. Ikko meanwhile is a plush 100% polyester velvet, with a design influenced by the crevices found in ancient tree bark and cracked earth, which is available in 19 colourways.
“Oversized textures is a trend we are seeing more and more of this year,” explain designers Linda Thacker and Louise Draper. “We have thoroughly embraced this technique in the Anthology studio, and have enjoyed experimenting with the vast canvas this digital printing technique provides, enabling us to work with large-scale, abstract designs”
Launched alongside Ikko and Hibiki, the Definition collection offers a range of statement wallcoverings combining an urban street style with an ethereal vibe.
“Definition has been inspired by geology and crystals,” Thacker and Draper continue. “More figurative and mystical than previous Anthology ranges, it adds an extra intensity of colour and design. These new collections encapsulate texture and sophisticated complexity across cutting edge wallcoverings and tactile velvets to create a new generation of commercial interiors. Anthology’s creative finishes, subtle textures and sophisticated complexity are presented in contract specifications that interior designers and hotel groups worldwide can easily access. A global colour palette ensures these edgy urban designs have a distinctively international feel.”
Comprising design options including Aspronisi, with its linen style emboss and loose, abstract motif; Envision with its mirrored image design derived from a piece of painted fabric; and Graffiti, a moody urban collection reminiscent of derelict buildings, amongst others, the Definition collection combines gentle neutral colours with pops of vibrant contrasting tones to striking effect.
“The Anthology design philosophy is to offer cutting edge products for dynamic metropolitan spaces that challenge convention,” Thacker adds. “Anthology delivers sleek finishes, moody metropolitan colours and uncompromising innovation perfect for creating contemporary spaces. The concept behind Anthology is to provide the interior designer with the resources to create stunning schemes without in any way being prescriptive. We wanted to give them the tools to create a story themselves, rather than serving up a complete package with little room for individuality. We worked very closely with two particular mills to achieve the highest quality and the best possible ranges in terms of design and colour.”
The two launches are set to take centre stage at Style Library Contract’s Clerkenwell showcase, to be located at Stand D3 in St John’s Square.
Clerkenwell Design Week will take place from 23-25 May and showcase a selection of the industry’s biggest name alongside it’s fastest rising stars.
“CDW is the highlight of the contract interior calendar,” concludes Draper. “Renowned for innovative design and fashion-forward brands, we felt the cutting edge event was the ideal location to launch the latest from Anthology.”
