Wilson Associates announces new leaders
Interior architecture and design firm Wilson Associates has announced multiple leadership appointments to various international and domestic positions.
Hussain Kamal has been appointed as Managing Director, Dallas, after 12 years with the firm, three of which he served as Vice President and Managing Director of Wilson Associates’ Los Angeles office. Kamal received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his Master of Architecture degree in urban design from the University of Oklahoma. His previous development projects include the Venetian Macau and the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, in addition to work for Conrad, Four Seasons, Hilton and MGM.
Amy Jakubowski has been announced as Managing Director and Design Director, Los Angeles, after previous stints as Partner and Design Partner at Brennan Beer Gorman Monk, and managing director of Puccini Group’s hospitality studios. Jakubowski has worked with major hotel brands including Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, Starwood and Fairmont, and has garnered numerous industry awards including the Gold Key and IIDA Lester Dundes prizes. She will provide mentorship, leadership and direction for Wilson Associates’ Los Angeles-based designers.
Elsewhere, Firas Alsalih has been named EVP, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, and Global Head of Business Development. Alsalih initially joined Wilson Associates in 2014 as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices. With a career spanning over 30 years, Alsalih is a trained and certified conflict specialist and mediator, and recently served as CEO of a UAE-based joint venture responsible for bringing luxury Italian products to the Middle Eastern marketplace.
Isabel Pintado has been appointed Managing Director and Design Director, Dubai, following previous executive positions including Managing Director of LWDesign Group and Associate Partner at GAJ Dubai. She has spent a decade working in the Middle East, and her familiarity with the region’s culture and business landscape will aid Wilson Associates in expanding their footprint in the area. She will lead the Dubai design studio and aim to generate opportunities for Wilson’s global studios.
Finally, to mark the launch of its new design studio in Shanghai, Wilson Associates has appointed Dylan Wills as the office’s Principal and Design Director. Wills brings five years of experience as Design Director for Wilson Associates’ Singapore studio and will curate the brand’s expanding Asian portfolio with direct involvement in each stage of design.
