Oppenheim Architecture launches European interiors studio

Global firm Oppenheim Architecture is expanding its European interiors practice with a new dedicated studio. Known for creating landmark architecture that captures the ‘Spirit of Place’. the firm is broadening its interior capabilities with recent key leadership appointments.

Heading the interiors studio is Interior Design Lead Mariana Charters, an established designer with a background in luxury residential and hospitality spaces. Formerly the Interior Design Director of Blink Design Group in Singapore, Charters brings extensive experience working across Asia and Europe and a passion for translating harmonious living into the built environment. Francisca Soares de Moura joins Charters as the Hospitality Design Lead, with over a decade of experience in architecture and interior design.

The European interiors studio will blend interior design with the firm’s architectural DNA, creating cohesive, narrative-driven spaces that reflect each location’s character. Drawing on the firm’s global experience, its work incorporates cultural influences, fostering deep connections between spaces and their occupants. The team’s expertise in luxury hospitality and space planning enables Oppenheim Architecture to design elegant, functional environments that create lasting memories. Through collaborations with artisans and local specialists, the firm creates one-of-a-kind elements that enhance its projects with unmatched features.

“The expanded European interiors practice represents an important step for Oppenheim Architecture,” says Beat Huesler, the firm’s Europe Director. “As we continue to build with the land, it only makes sense to further integrate our approach into the interiors of our projects, as well. Mariana and Francisca are already providing valuable knowledge and leadership as we work to progress innovative design that not only meets the needs of our clients but also enriches the communities we serve.”

The interiors studio is already successfully transforming projects such as Smartland Villas, which recently broke ground in Cyprus, and La Maviglia in Italy. The former, a sustainable residential community, reflects its ‘Spirit of Place’ by incorporating local design elements not only in the architecture of its 38 villas but throughout the project’s interiors, creating a unified interpretation of traditional Mediterranean living. La Maviglia meanwhile, showcases the seamless integration of architecture and interior design, achieving an unprecedented level of bespoke hospitality.

“Oppenheim Architecture approaches its work with thoughtfulness and beauty,” says Charters. “In my role, I aim to continue and grow Oppenheim’s architectural philosophy into interior spaces. By providing this new integrated offering, we will enhance how clients and users experience our projects. It’s not just about architecture or interior design – it’s about a truly holistic perspective that leads to a beautiful way of living.”

Currently celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary year, Oppenheim Architecture encompasses an international team of over sixty architects, interior designers, planners, and technicians, united by the philosophy of designing and building with the land, rather than on it. As the firm looks towards the future, the dedicated European Interior design studio is a natural next step alongside the opening of a new office in Albania, where the firm has established projects created in collaboration with the local community

“Our work at Oppenheim Architecture has always reflected the idea that great design happens at every scale,” says Chad Oppenheim, Founding Principal of Oppenheim Architecture. “By expanding our interiors practice in Europe, we are able to craft spaces that are not only beautiful but truly harmonious with their surroundings, inside and out.”
