Kelly Wearstler to deliver first interior design MasterClass
American designer Kelly Wearstler has been announced as the first interior design teacher on MasterClass – an educational platform that sees leading figures in fields from art to business delivering video lessons as part of an remote subscription service.
The Kelly Wearstler Design Studio founder will draw from her work on projects including San Francisco Proper Hotel and Four Seasons Anguilla to explore topics from colour choices to the intricacies of a well-stocked art collection.
“I hope my MasterClass helps take some of the mystery out of design,” Wearstler comments. “I want students to feel empowered to take risks and have the confidence to make design decisions that will make their home a beautiful living experience.”
Wearstler’s class will seek to address common design issues – such as how to make spaces feel larger, and how to go about incorporating texture – whilst sharing tips on working with natural light and the embracing of awkward layouts.
“Kelly’s design style is recognisable as soon as you step in the room,” adds David Rogier, co-founder and CEO of MasterClass. “Her MasterClass gives students a rare opportunity to see how she puts together a room piece by piece.”
Wearstler joins an ensemble cast of MasterClass teachers including Marc Jacobs (fashion design), Anna Wintour (creativity & leadership), Serena Williams (tennis), Martin Scorsese (filmmaking) and Gordon Ramsay (cooking).
