Kajsa Krause and Matoula Karagiannis join Champalimaud Design

Champalimaud Design, the eponymous studio founded by Alexandra Champalimaud, has announced the appointment of two prominent Principal Designers.

Matoula Karagiannis – formerly Vice President of Design at Sydell Group – and Kajsa Krause – co-founder of New York interiors firm Krause Sawyer – will join the team with over forty years of experience between them.

“We’re delighted to welcome Matoula and Kajsa to our team with their leadership skills and expertise working in the lifestyle and hospitality space,” comments Ed Bakos, CEO of Champalimaud Design. “We are excited to continue growing our senior design team and expand the creative voices within our studio. Their respective talents will allow us to continue to diversify our scope and expand our offering as a design firm.”

Karagiannis has held previous creative leadership positions with Wilson & Associates in Singapore, Wyndham Worldwide and Hirsch-Bedner Associates, and overseen hotel projects including Hotel Bel-Air, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and The Dorchester. Krause, meanwhile, worked with Rockwell Group as a Senior Designer following a stint with Swedish studio Stylt Trampoli.

Champalimaud Design recently completed the redesign of the iconic Raffles Singapore and The Plaza New York. Elsewhere, Halekulani Okinawa – a resort designed by the studio in Hawaii – opened its doors in 2019.
