New Great Northern management
Great Northern Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has announced three high profile senior appointments to its executive team. Anthony Lee joins as Chief Executive Officer, Iain W. Duncan as Group Marketing Director and Andrew Wheal as Group Rooms Revenue Director. Alongside their responsibilities at London’s Great Northern Hotel in King’s Cross, this new senior team will work across Aries Hotels, a new collection of boutique hotels created by owner Jeremy Robson.
Anthony Lee will take up the operational management duties at the Great Northern Hotel as well as spearheading the operational leadership for Aries Hotels as a group. Lee has had a stellar career to date and is recognised within the global hospitality industry as one of its leading lights. He joins from Hotel Café Royal where, under his leadership, he positioned the hotel as one of London’s finest luxury properties. Previously, Lee spent three and a half years as General Manager of the May Fair Hotel, and a Member of the Board for the Edwardian Hotel Group. His Leadership helped to re-brand and re-position their flagship property. Prior to the May Fair, Lee’s career spanned 31 years at the Connaught in Mayfair, an internationally renowned institution. During his tenure, The Connaught underwent two major refurbishments and became known as the best kept secret amongst London’s very top hotels.
Iain W. Duncan is to lead marketing initiatives at Great Northern Hotel and the Aries Hotels portfolio. He is a hugely experienced hospitality sector marketer and brings immense knowledge and expertise to the position. Duncan has a proven record in creating strategies for businesses by defining their identity, culture and market profile, with notable assets at The ONE Group including STK and Radio Rooftop bars at the ME Hotels London and Milan and the food and beverage programme at The Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square to name but a few.
Andrew Wheal is a distinguished and respected Rooms Revenue Specialist. He will manage and drive forward room revenue strategy and implementation for the Great Northern Hotel and other assets from the Aries Hotels portfolio. He has enjoyed a first class career to date in some of London’s highest profile five star hotels, having worked at Maybourne Hotel Group and the Shangri-La Hotel in The Shard, London Bridge. Wheal joins Great Northern Hotel from Hamilton, one of the UK’s leading hotel asset managers where he gained valuable experience undertaking feasibility studies in respect of prospective new hotel acquisitions and developments.
The appointments mark a strong operational and strategic action for Great Northern Hotel and Aries Hotels, in accordance with a planned expansion.
