Equinox appoints Josh Wyatt as President
Luxury fitness club brand Equinox has announced that Josh Wyatt has been appointed as President of its hotels division.
Wyatt will lead all elements of Equinox’s hospitality division, and will oversee real estate operations, execute future growth strategy, and manage guest experience across the brand’s portfolio.
Wyatt joins the team as an accomplished entrepreneur and investor who previously served as Partner and Senior Advisor at Patron Capital, where he created the company’s Hospitality & Leisure practice. Concurrent to his role with Patron, Wyatt was the co-owner and Chief Strategic Officer at Generator Hostels, where he expanded the concept to 10 countries, managing real estate, design and brand voice for all properties.
He states: “When a company that is already so committed to an elevated experience offers you the chance to build a hotel brand that serves guests in revolutionary ways, it’s not something you can turn down. I am thrilled to join the larger Equinox family as we work on its mission of empowering people to maximise all aspects of their lives.
Conceived to offer an entirely new hotel experience that meets the needs of the high performance traveller, Equinox’s hotel properties will maintain the brand’s signature luxury aesthetic.
Launching with their Hudson Yards property, and designed Yabu Pushelberg, the first Equinox hotel will incorporate a 60,000ft2 club on-site.
Equinox currently operates 80 upscale, full-service fitness clubs in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Texas and Washington, DC, as well as international locations in London and Toronto. It plans to develop a hotel portfolio present in over 50 locations worldwide.
Concerning Wyatt’s appointment, Equinox CEO Harvey Spevak comments: “With proven experience in growing every aspect of hospitality businesses, Josh understands first-hand that every decision ultimately impacts the guest. Josh’s background will be instrumental as we usher Equinox into its next phase as a 360-degree lifestyle brand and redefine the meaning of ‘luxury hotel’ in key gateway cities worldwide.”
