Salone del Mobile prepares for 2017

Salone del Mobile Milano has announced its 56th exhibition, running from 4-9 April 2017 at the Fiera Milano Rho. Highlighting a comprehensive range of furnishings, furniture, lighting and workspaces, the event is expected to welcome over 300,000 industry visitors from 165 countries.

Set to feature 2,000 exhibitors showcasing thousands of products across a display area of over 200,000m², Salone de Mobile 2017 will also offer two concomitant events. The exhibition will open to industry professionals every day between 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and will also be open to the general public on Saturday and Sunday.

Roberto Snaidero, Chairman, comments: “A showcase for Italian and international furnishing excellence, Salone del Mobile is putting the finishing touches to its 56th edition, which once again offers a unique opportunity for world industry leaders to unveil their products. The wide, exclusive range of commercial offerings on show attracts more than 300,000 industry visitors from over 165 countries, as well as premium media outlets from around the globe and of course the general public. Our close partnership with the city of Milan is of vital importance, confirming the city and the event’s status as capitals of design.”

The Salone Internazionale del Mobile will be subdivided into three sections: Classic, Design and xLux, a sector dedicated to timeless luxury reinterpreted with a contemporary touch, which launched successfully in 2016. Biennial events taking place alongside the Salone will include Euroluce in Pavilions 9-11 and 13-15, and Workplace3.0 in Pavilions 22-24, as well as the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and SaloneSatellite.

Euroluce, which will mark its 29th edition this year, will showcase the best of the lighting market, from decorative products to technical lighting for application in a range of environments. As per usual, the event will focus on energy saving practices, environmental sustainability and light pollution.

Workplace3.0, now in its 17th year, is a concept-driven exhibition dedicated to workspace design and technology and an event that responds to rapid changes in the world of work and emerging market needs. Elsewhere, for the twentieth year, the SaloneSatellite will be offering a place for young people selected from five continents to meet with business people, architects, interior designers and the press in Pavilions 22 and 24.

Alongside the exhibition element, two biennial fair events will be dedicated to lighting and the workplace. The first, curated by Simone Ciarmoli, is titled DeLightFuL. The exhibition will feature the presentation of an independent fantasy-inspired short film from multi-award winning director Matteo Garrone.

Meanwhile, A Joyful Sense at Work, curated by Cristiana Cutrona, will convey a vision of the evolving future scenario of office environments, presenting innovative content and approaches to the design of office products and workspaces through three installations, each of which will feature the cultural specificities of the three areas from which their international architect designers originate from: America, Asia and Europe.

Space&interiors, the only event linked permanently with the Salone del Mobile Milano, will be devoted to architectural finishes. Situated in The Mall, Porta Nuova, in the heart of Milan’s Brera Design District, the event will showcase surfaces, flooring, doors and internal finishings in a setting curated by the Migliore+Servetto Architects practice.

From 4-8 April space&interiors will be staging meetings and workshops offering valuable cultural insights, while a special lounge area will host Archicocktails, an event wherein visitors discuss the latest trends in the building construction industry with leading names in architecture and design. The location will be divided into separate spaces, with a strong focus on computer graphics. The theme of the event is lightness.

Lastly, an exhibition entitled Absolute Lightness, set against a cutting-edge digital and interactive backdrop, will showcase the most inventive finishes used in modern architecture.
