Radical Innovation moves to New York in 2015

With a new host city and a dedicated afternoon of programming, Radical Innovation will re-launch in fall 2015 with a program co-produced by Sleeper. The event is scheduled to take place on September 30 at the New Museum in New York, a growing institution that stands for innovative thinking.

The 2015 competition brings new partnerships that will increase its presence internationally, furthering its legacy of discovering talent. Sleeper will co-produce the program together with The John Hardy Group. Architizer, an extensive online platform that connects architects worldwide, will also support as a media partner.

This stand-alone event is designed to foster conversation on the future of the hotel guest experience from a design, operations and development perspective.

“New York is one of the most dynamic hotel markets and there is no better place for Radical Innovation to put forward new thinkers who will spark ideas for hospitality,” said John Hardy, CEO, The John Hardy Group and founder of the Radical Innovation Award.

The 2015 call for entries will be announced in January. Entries are judged based on quality of concept and clarity of the design brief. Select entrants will be chosen to present their hotel concepts in front of a live audience during the Radical Innovation event at the New Museum.

All submissions will be reviewed by the Radical Innovation Jury: Michael Medzigian, CEO and director at Carey Watermark Investors; Jena Thornton, LEED AP, managing director at Eagle Rock Ventures; Simon Turner, president, global development at Starwood Hotels;James Woods, COO at The Bowls; Wing T Chao, founding principal at Wing T Chao Architect; Claude Amar, president at the John Hardy Group International. Founding sponsor Global Allies will continue to support the Radical Innovation Award.

“Radical Innovation challenges and inspires its participants to create unique and forward thinking concepts and ideas that will enhance the guest experience,” commented David Cline, president at Global Allies.

The winner of Radical Innovation 2014 was Green Air by Shanghai-based designer Lip Chiong.
