New brand and mission for IHMRS

To mark its centennial anniversary, the International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show has unveiled a new brand and mission to revitalise what has been the largest hospitality trade event in North America.

HX: The Hotel Experience – Rooms to Restaurants, debuts 8-10 November, 2015 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre, New York City. The multimillion-dollar investment is founded on a belief that hospitality should leave guests with a memorable and unique experience. Therefore, HX will focus on innovation, inspiration and information to provide these qualities to its services.

“Making this enormous change at our 100-year juncture is exciting,” says Anthony G. Mangano, President Syramada Hotel Corporation (Syracuse, NY) and Chairman of the Board for HX 2015. “These are not tweaks or modest improvements. HX 2015 is an entirely new show.”

In order to develop from IHMRS to HX the organisers called on industry experts, research-based data and the prior-year’s show assessments to identify how the show could contribute to the industry.

Mangano continues: “It all came down to delivering true hospitality, that is, anticipating a guest’s needs before they even know they need it. We all agreed we wanted a show that performed at this level.”

Every component of the hospitality experience for hotels, motels and restaurants will be represented in five new show divisions: Food & Beverage, Guest Services, Technology, Kitchen Design and Rooms Division. The show floor will also feature new product theatres: HX: ONSTAGE RESTAURANT, HX: STUDIO, HX: TECH and HX: ONSTAGE HOTEL. Industry experts will appear live in the HX: STUDIO covering everything from cooking trends to marketing strategies, to social media and handheld devices. Whilst HX: TECH showcases the newest technological products, solutions and ideas.

HX also provides a concierge service to put the right exhibitors in touch with the right buyers.

Mangano concludes: “We’ve created more reasons for attendees to be on the show floor longer by reimagining, renovating, and rebranding the entire experience.”
