Lambart & Browne to design Decorex bar
Lambart & Browne, the interior designers responsible for the infamous Loulou’s London, have been named as the team behind this year’s Decorex bar. Briefed to create a space with fresh direction, the venue will be an evolution of the champagne bar featured in previous years, serving a selection of botanically-infused cocktails.
The starting point for the design was the expression ‘bon viveur’ – derived from the French phrase ‘bon vivant’ meaning one who lives well, which was adopted by the English in the mid-19th century. The London-based practice will evoke this mood by fashioning an elegant yet refined colonial-style aesthetic.
“We have designed the bar in a contemporary British style, classic eclectic,” comments Freddy van Zevenbergen, co-founder and Head Designer at Lambart & Browne. “With this design, we are inviting visitors to take a moment to reflect on the inspiring designs they have seen at Decorex in appropriately comfortable and elegant surroundings.”
The tent-like structure will be mounted on a raised platform, with each corner featuring rope-wrapped pillars that support a sailcloth ceiling. Sheer curtains on three sides of the bar will offer privacy and softer ambient lighting, while inside, shaped decorative screens and opulent furniture are to accompany lighting features and provide impactful focal points. Additional seating spaces will also be dotted outside the bar, along with recognisable pieces from a number of the show’s exhibitors.
Returning to Syon Park as the opening destination of London Design Festival, the 41st edition of Decorex will take place on 16-19 September and is expected to host over 400 exhibitors from established names to up-and-coming brands.
