Decorex announces entrance designer

Decorex International has announced that British furniture designer Tim Gosling will design and curate the festival’s main entrance.

Running from 18-21 September, Decorex has chosen ‘the roots of design’ as its theme. In line with this, Gosling will construct an exhibition titled The Heritage of Chair Making that documents the links between interior design, architecture and the heritage of British craftsmanship.

Working with historic collections from the Victoria & Albert Museum and The Frederick Parker collection, Gosling will ask 12 leading British visual creators including Paul Smith, Jasper Conran and James Dyson, to choose their favourite piece and why it speaks to them.

Gosling comments: “The UK has some of the most important furniture collections in the world, but due to conservation it is not always possible to put them on public display. Thanks to the support of the V&A and The Frederick Parker Collection, I am delighted to be curating an exhibition of chairs, which includes many of these rare and extraordinary pieces.”
