Boutique Design New York (BDNY) has unveiled a sneak peek at what guests can expect ahead of its return to Manhattan’s Javits Center this November 12-13.
The annual gathering invites architects, interior designers, owners and operators, purchasing agents, hoteliers and restaurateurs, developers and brands to view the latest product launches from 650 exhibitors, and be inspired by signature Designed Spaces created by hotel brands and designers.
A major attraction at BDNY each year is the unveiling of its four signature Designed Spaces, a concept which allows attendees to experience the latest hospitality interiors across the exhibit floor. Each space is created by a leading hospitality design team, using products from multiple BDNY exhibitors and sponsors.
The first space is Imaginative Travel by Andaz, a collaboration between Hyatt and Host Hotels – designed by Otherworld Creative and Within Light Studio – which sees a luxe bar-at-sunset concept brought to life at BDNY.
The second space is ChromaClub by Rockwell Group, where the Rockwell team have created a space that taps into the energy of a luxurious supper club with a bar, stage and lounge—enveloped by a sculptural, geometric frame draped in diaphanous, iridescent fabric panels in deep blue, green and violet hues.
For a space aptly named Down the Rabbit Hole, KTGY and Simeone Deary Design Group have been inspired by the year 2023 as the Year of the Rabbit. The space evolved as part bunny hutch and part secret garden – with a hint of a mad tea party setting – intended to evoke conversation and build community.
Finally, 1 Hotels will be showcasing Designed by Nature, bringing nature indoors through a space of roughhewn wood, textured stone, handwoven palm accents and a eucalyptus-pole trellis. 1 Hotels and its partners turned to airy drapery for softness, cascading greenery to filter overhead light, and a neutral color palette for furnishings. The main goal? To achieve serene surroundings using sustainably sourced materials.
“Following the success of last year’s conference and trade fair, we are thrilled to again introduce exceptional content – specifically talks with today’s leaders and up-and-comers and signature Designed Spaces,” says Keisha Byrd, Brand Leader, BDNY. “As the hospitality industry, particularly boutique and lifestyle hospitality, continues to thrive, it is critical that we continue to provide a platform that celebrates the products, projects and personalities that allow our industry to stand out. Our goal for BDNY is to continue to be a source of inspiration, strategy, networking and immersive experiences.”
Engaging talks from the hospitality industry’s rising stars and leaders will also be taking place on the Mainstage, in the Hub, the NEWH booth, and throughout the four Designed Spaces. Highlights include ‘Design for the Mind: The Value of Psychology and Neuroaesthetics in Hospitality’ and ‘The Impact of AI on Design: How Is this New Technology Shaping How We Create Now and In the Future?’, with talks led by key figures from the likes of Marriott International, Gensler, Six Senses and Rockwell Group.
