Fidelity Hotel opens in Cleveland as city’s first independent lifestyle hotel
New Waterloo, a community-centric independent hotel management company, has announced the opening of Fidelity Hotel in downtown Cleveland.
The hotel is an adaptive reuse of the 103-year-old Baker Building, and comprises 97 guestrooms and suites, a full-service restaurant, bar and 2,300ft² of versatile meeting and event space.
Designed by Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA) and built by Whiting-Turner, Fidelity Hotel marries historic charm with sleek sophistication. The hotel’s architecture maintains its heritage by blending original Neo-Classical style with limestone façades and classical capitals. As a nod to its roots, large windows and warm lighting were added to create an inviting street-level presence.
Curioso and Looney & Associates are behind the hotel’s interiors, including guestrooms, suites and public spaces. The design scheme balances old and new, drawing on rich colours and patterns, unlacquered brass, hardwood and marble floors, and antiqued mirrors. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding environment, the design seamlessly integrates organic elements like woven textures, natural wood accents and a vibrant colour palette of plum, soft pink, gold and cyan.
“Fidelity Hotel embodies our excitement to introduce a new level of hospitality in the cities we love,” says Bart Knaggs, CEO of New Waterloo. “With its thoughtful accommodations and inviting nature, Fidelity will elevate the visitor experience in Cleveland, while also acting as a vibrant hub of social and cultural activity to bring the community together for meetings, meals and celebrations.”
