Reimagined Beachside Hotel opens with design inspired by Nantucket summers
Blue Flag Capital has announced the reopening of Beachside Hotel, envisioned by Parts and Labor Design in partnership with Brad Guidi.
Built in 1960 on the island’s North Beach Street, the hotel celebrates the 60s and 70s in Nantucket, when artists and craftspeople viewed it as a creative haven.
“The design is definitely unique to Nantucket – it is fun, retro, coastal and upscale,” says Guidi. “We didn’t use the typical Nantucket color palette, instead we utilised terracottas, gentle creams, dark greens and natural woods.”
He continues: “The centerpiece of the property is the new pool courtyard which will feature a mahogany deck and plenty of loungers. We chose furniture, fabrics and materials that are reminiscent of our childhood, even pulling from movies like ‘The Sandlot’ for inspiration. There is something comforting and nostalgic when watching the film, so we asked ourselves how we could evoke this feeling at our hotel. That was the lens by which we designed the property.”
The hotel’s branding and visual identity is also equally on-theme, courtesy of LMNOP, whose suite of graphic and physical elements throughout is a nostalgic nod to the area’s past.
The property comprises a range of accommodation alongside pools, a gym, meeting space, courtyard, restaurant and bar, as well as a gameroom.
“The Beachside Hotel was designed around the idea of an endless summer,” says Brad Guidi, co-founder and CDO of Blue Flag. “We invite guests to leave itineraries behind and dive into a world of opportunities right here on the property. We designed the hotel to cultivate this connection through recreation for guests to collect spontaneous moments to slow down and savor with friends and family alike. We focused on creating outdoor spaces where discovery is limitless. This self-driven experience is all part of the story. I think we can all relate to the first taste of freedom that summer offered us as children – that was the feeling that we tried to evoke at the new Beachside.”
