The Montenotte Woodland Suite

The Montenotte launches new woodland cabins and clubhouse

Cork urban resort The Montenotte has launched The Woodland Suite Experience, a collection of nine cabin suites and a clubhouse.

The new accommodation offer, curated by owners Frankie and Jo Whelehan, with Henry J Lyons and Roisin Lafferty, has been designed with nature at its core, merging architecture with the surrounding landscape to create low-impact design. Five Woodland Suites are nestled deep within the trees, while four River Suites cantilever out from the landscape, surrounded by Irish wildflowers.

Each of the suites are complete with Italian travertine and oak timber floor finishes, expansive bathrooms, view-focused free-standing baths and private terraces. Materials and finishes have been inspired by the surrounding woodlands, showcasing a blend of earthy colours, warm fabrics and natural light.

Other design details include bronze mirrored wall finishes, timber veneer beds with upholstered olive-green headboards, remote-activated blackout blinds and custom rice paper screens that act as a sliding partition to diffuse daylight and divide up the bedroom and living area. A 2m red Japanese maple is featured in every suite, curated from recycled natural wood trunks and branches.

The residents-only clubhouse serves as a private hideaway for guests. Deep smoked oak is integrated next to concrete and red travertine floors, and a curved bar sits in the centre of the space. These materials are contrasted with floor-to-ceiling windows and polished plaster to mirror the surrounding Irish landscape.

“We are excited to officially open The Woodland Suite Experience today,” say Frankie and Jo Whelehan. “At The Montenotte, we are passionate about providing our guests with unforgettable and inspiring stays, and with The Woodland Suite Experience we invite them to reconnect with themselves and each other whilst experiencing a total sense of escapism. We are proud to continue to set new standards in luxury hospitality here in Ireland, while remaining true to our values and principles at The Montenotte.”
